What I built
this week

August 10–16

Hold the Line's M1 put a hand-drawn survey map and an on-demand sector inspector on the battlefield, while a parallel tactical simulation carried its own deterministic core through combat, operation orders, intelligence, and an after-action report. Gridiron Guesser's daily video pipeline absorbed a stack of hardening — a render timeout ceiling, cache restore across CI runs, avatar direction — that stopped it re-buying ElevenLabs and HeyGen artifacts on every retry. This site added two new build stories to the index and made the local numbers job its primary weekly refresh.

01 · HOLD THE LINE

The week's center of gravity: M1's living survey map for the tactical build — a hand-drawn terrain layer with roads, rail, bounded fields, hamlets and a compass rose, and a sector inspector that gives diagnosis on demand in pips rather than numbers. A parallel simulation moved through nine milestones, taking the deterministic core through combat, operation orders, intelligence worth planning on, an after-action report, and the account of taking a sector again. An asset pipeline generated a full sprite kit behind semantic ids, with a written UI doctrine and an adversarial review of the generated art.

03 · THIS SITE

Two new projects joined the index — Zuzy's World and Reading Helper — with their own build-story pages and product screenshots. The Vercel deploy path was configured so a push to main lands the right build, and the sessions counter for this site was corrected to sum across both sides of the repository's move. The measured-numbers archive was refreshed from the one local machine that can see the Claude transcripts, and that local job was promoted to the primary weekly refresh rather than the token-only half.

04 · GRIDIRON GUESSER

The daily video pipeline absorbed a stack of hardening. A render timeout was silently truncating renders that were going to succeed, and was extended to fit the compositions that had outgrown it. A cache-restore step was added so failed runs would stop re-buying narration takes and avatar clips, and then had a follow-up fix when its first version 403'd and reported success anyway. Avatar direction gained a continuous inset style with a persistent phone-look PiP, a second HeyGen look playing along on her phone, portrait pip generation, one-segment route reveals, and career-proximity wrong guesses.

05 · ZUZY’S WORLD

Traded a URL secret-slug gate for a parent-password mode. The site is no longer hidden behind an unguessable path — the child-facing home is directly reachable — and the grown-up screens (setup, review queue, adventure editing) become the gated surface instead. A single refactor threaded the change through the layout, the manifest, every mode page, and the components that had been checking the slug.
