What I built
this week

October 5–11

The week belonged almost entirely to The Rift, which moved through Pass A and Pass B in sequence — the first remaking the physical game world, the second rebuilding every enemy type from the ground up. This site picked up a registry addition for The Rift and a preflight check that makes the weekly collector fail fast rather than silently when the Claude CLI is unavailable.

01 · THE RIFT

Pass A rebuilt the battlefield around the real Hougoumont layout, adding elevation data and a navigation mesh, making ladder movement forgiving rather than punishing, introducing distinct east and west gates with lancer cavalry on the western approach, and shipping a full audio layer with weapons, ambience, and title, loading, and pause screens. Pass B redesigned the enemy roster end to end: French morale and rallying, voltigeur skirmisher screens, grenadier parties armed with both muskets and axes, autonomous cavalry that keeps riding after contact, British field companies with independent behavior, and a living garrison model that tracks men inside the walls. A phased encounter structure brought the battle to a seven-minute arc, and a balance pass closed out the second pass.

02 · THIS SITE

The Rift was added to the project registry so the stats pipeline tracks it alongside the other projects, and the weekly collector gained a preflight module that fails fast when the Claude CLI is unavailable rather than proceeding silently. Daily stat refreshes ran through the week as the pipeline caught up to the new commits.
